Greater Columbus Safety Council

What is G.C.S.C.?
Area companies and organizations founded the Greater Columbus Safety Council in February 2000. The council is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization made up of volunteers from Bartholomew and other surrounding counties. The council is here to assist you in meeting your safety and environmental needs.

The purpose of GCSC shall be to enhance human life through the promotion of safety and health. The objectives of the GCSC shall be:

  • To promote safety and health in all fields of activity, including, but not limited to traffic, occupational, school, and general public safety.
  • To cooperate with public authorities in the prevention of accidents on the streets and highways and in other public places.
  • To assist other organizations and agencies in developing comprehensive safety programs.
  • To promote, sponsor, and encourage safety and health programs in all areas with attention to causes of accidents and methods of accident prevention.
  • To make available educational information and materials to assist GCSC members and other organizations in establishing and maintaining adequate safety and health programs within their spheres of activity.
  • To collect, maintain, and distribute facts and information, which will aid in the furtherance of all objectives in the GCSC.
  • To make financial contributions and grants to other organizations who support the GCSC's main purpose, which is to enhance human life through the promotion of safety and health while adhering to the limitations of the GCSC outlined in Article XII.
  • The purposes for which the GCSC is organized are exclusively
    charitable and educational within the meaning of 501(c)(3)
    of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 or the corresponding
    provision of any future United States Internal Revenue Law.
